A More Sustainable World

Mini Ferrum is built on clear principles of circularity.

We actively strive to contribute to a more sustainable and circular world by better utilizing and creating value from vital nutrients that might otherwise be lost.

Sustainable & Animal-Based?

Since ancient times, humans have sought to make full use of available resources. Meat, organs, blood, and bone marrow were all utilized, providing essential nutrients, minerals, and vitamins.

In the modern world, this approach has largely been forgotten. But for the sake of the planet and a sustainable future, we need to think more circularly again.

Advances in food technology now make it possible to extract high-quality raw materials from by-products of meat production - improving resource efficiency while increasing access to highly bioavailable iron.

Foodtech: Turning Hemoglobin into Nutrition

One of these high-quality raw materials is our hemoglobin powder, derived from bovine blood. Hemoglobin - the oxygen-carrying component of red blood cells - is isolated and gently spray-dried to create a pure, nutrient-rich powder with long shelf life and naturally occurring heme iron.

Combined with innovative product formats, this makes it possible to replicate iron intake from traditional diets rich in organs, blood, and bone marrow - delivered with modern simplicity.

Maintaining healthy iron levels requires sufficient intake of bioavailable iron that the body can easily absorb. With hemoglobin powder, increasing heme iron intake does not require eating more meat.

By using hemoglobin powder in innovative formats, we improve resource efficiency within meat production and contribute to a more sustainable world.

The Founders on Sustainability

"For us, ideas of circularity have been central since the founding of Mini Ferrum. Our iron source is rooted in the idea of better utilizing and valuing the resources we already have - just as humans have historically always done.

It is a philosophy we strongly believe in, and one we want to pass on to our children. For us, this also makes it a core value of Mini Ferrum."

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Our sustainability efforts are guided by the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These goals help companies understand how their operations can contribute to a more sustainable future- by reducing negative impacts while maximizing positive change for people and the planet.

We follow the UN framework by continuously evaluating our impact through internal management systems and by constantly striving to improve.

Our greatest impact lies within four key areas: production, materials, transportation, and consumption. Across our entire value chain, we aim to make the most sustainable choices possible. We actively work to reduce unnecessary emissions and waste at every stage - from raw materials and manufacturing to delivery and consumption.
