Heme iron is more easily absorbed by the body than non-heme iron (plant-based or synthetic iron). It is absorbed directly in the small intestine through a unique uptake mechanism, setting it apart from all other forms of iron.

In addition, heme iron is generally not affected by other components in the diet and is therefore absorbed efficiently regardless of meals.

The capsules are produced entirely without stabilisers, fillers, anti-caking agents, or similar additives.

The capsule shell is made from pullulan derived from fermented tapioca, offering excellent barrier properties and protection against oxidation. The capsules are easy to swallow, leave no aftertaste, and contain no cellulose.

Recommended Daily Dose

6 capsules = 10.2 mg heme iron

If needed: 8 capsules = 13.6 mg heme iron

Take 3 capsules in the morning and 3 in the evening, together with a meal. Swallow with liquid. Do not take on an empty stomach. For optimal absorption, it is recommended to avoid calcium (>165 mg) for 2 hours before and 2 hours after taking the capsules. If needed, you may take up to 8 capsules per day. Please note that there is a natural saturation limit for heme iron at around 15-20 mg per day.

Iron supplements may be used when needed, for example during pregnancy, breastfeeding, heavy menstruation, intensive training, or after blood donation. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a midwife or healthcare professional before use.

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The heme iron capsules are sensitive to moisture and should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.

Origin of the hemoglobin powder: The Netherlands

Our hemoglobin powder is produced in the Netherlands by the only manufacturer of its kind within the EU capable of producing hemoglobin powder of this quality from cattle. Our specialized producer is a global leader in innovative and renewable raw materials derived from the meat industry and works exclusively with recovering valuable nutrients from by-products that would otherwise go to waste.

There is currently no niche organic production of this raw material. The cattle may come from different types of farms, provided that all quality and safety requirements are met.

The hemoglobin powder is rigorously tested for pathogens, pesticides, heavy metals, antibiotics, hormones, and other contaminants, and complies with one of the EU’s strictest regulatory frameworks for food production. Because the raw material, blood, when handled correctly, is essentially sterile, the final product is exceptionally pure. It is one of very few animal-based raw materials, possibly the only one, where organic production does not result in a higher-quality end product.

That said, we naturally support high standards of animal welfare and hope to see dedicated organic production become possible in the future.
