Our innovative iron supplements are developed with support from iron research and designed to meet your needs in the long term - with a gentle, holistic approach.

The same form of iron found naturally in meat and organ foods - our ancestors’ primary source of iron for hundreds of thousands of years, now meets modern food technology and established iron science.

The results are a next generation of iron supplements, created with your needs at the center.

Origin of the hemoglobin powder: the Netherlands. Why? There is currently no Swedish production of food-grade hemoglobin powder.

Our specialist producer is a world leader in innovative, renewable raw materials from the meat industry, focusing exclusively on recovering nutrients from by-products that would otherwise go to waste.

There is no dedicated organic production, so the animals may come from all types of farms, provided that each animal meets the required health standards.

The hemoglobin powder then undergoes thorough testing for pathogens, heavy metals, pesticides and other parameters. It is also guaranteed to be free from hormones and antibiotics.

Because the raw material (blood) is sterile when handled correctly, the resulting hemoglobin is also very pure. It is one of the few animal-derived raw materials whose quality is not automatically improved by organic production.

Nevertheless, we firmly support good animal welfare (we are not fans of the conventional meat industry) and hope to see dedicated organic production in Sweden in the future.

We recommend approximately 10-15 mg of heme iron per day as an initial starting dosage based on individual needs. For many, a lower dosage may also be sufficient.

Why is heme iron so "low-dose"?

Research shows that heme iron is unique in several ways, including that it has a much higher bioavailability than other types of iron (non-heme iron) that are generally used in traditional iron supplements.
In addition, heme iron is absorbed via a unique absorption mechanism in the body that distinguishes it from all other types of iron.

It is therefore not possible to compare the dose of heme iron with traditional, chemically produced forms of non-heme iron, such as ferrous gluconate, ferrous sulfate, ferrous bisglycinate, ferrous pyrophosphate, ferrous fumarate or similar iron compounds.

Research shows that the body has a harder time absorbing non-heme iron, which is often compensated for by much higher dosages. Ultimately, generally only a small percentage of iron is actually absorbed into the body regardless of whether you use a low or high dose of iron - but the higher the bioavailability, the more is absorbed per milligram of iron consumed.

Iron supplements can be taken if necessary during, for example, pregnancy, breastfeeding, heavy menstruation, intense exercise or after donating blood. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should first consult a midwife or doctor.

WHY IS YOUR IRON "LOW-DOSE"?
Research shows that heme iron is unique in several ways. Among other things, it has much higher bioavailability than other types of iron (non-heme iron), which are generally used in traditional iron supplements. Heme iron is also absorbed through a unique mechanism in the body that distinguishes it from all other forms of iron.

Heme iron doses therefore cannot be directly compared with those of traditional, chemically produced forms of non-heme iron, such as iron gluconate, iron sulfate, iron bisglycinate, iron pyrophosphate, iron fumarate or similar compounds. Natural heme iron cannot be concentrated beyond the level found in our air-dried hemoglobin powder.

Research shows that the body has greater difficulty absorbing all forms of non-heme iron, which is often compensated for with much higher doses. Ultimately, only a small proportion of iron is generally absorbed by the body, regardless of whether you take a low or high dose. However, the higher the bioavailability, the more iron is absorbed per dose consumed.

This means that a low-dose heme iron supplement with high bioavailability can deliver a much greater amount of absorbed iron than a high-dose supplement with low bioavailability.
